Anndrea Ellison Ph.D. Candidate, Rhetoric and Public Culture

Anndrea Ellison is a Ph.D. Candidate in the Rhetoric and Public Culture Program. She received her MA in English Studies from University of Illinois at Chicago before coming to Northwestern in 2009. Her dissertation is called "Defending Womanhood in America: The Formation of Women as Political Actors in the 1980s." Her research interests include cultural studies, religious studies, and feminism. She has won the Top Student Paper Award at the National Communication Association in the Feminist and Women's Studies Section, and has received a research grant from the Organization of Research on Women and Communication.
